We are excited to begin our new church year with the baptism of 2 young men in our church, Ian and Miller Clark, to publicly announce their professions of faith in Jesus Christ. We will baptize them at the Hemlock Golf Course access to the Dan River at 2:00 PM, October 6. Please plan to attend and support these fine young men, along with their families, as they begin their Christian life.
We are also pleased to begin the church year with the deacon ordination of Mr. David Burroughs on Sunday evening October 13, at 6:00 PM in a special worship service. We look forward to affirming David’s call to serve as a deacon as he is set apart for service in front of his family and his church family. David will join Blaine Williams and Mark Moore as our three new deacons this year. They are replacing Leroy Smith, Keith Hibner and Nic Watts who rotate off three-year service terms. We deeply appreciate their leadership in our church during this time. We will have our monthly fellowship meal and Son Quest event on Wednesday October 16 starting with dinner at 6:00 PM followed by Son Quest and Adult Bible study. I invite you to attend our church business conference on Sunday evening October 20 at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary. We have several important items to discuss including: our church building use policy, and the Community First Counseling program. Several questions were raised about these items, as well as some others, so plan to attend and join the discussion. Don’t forget trunk or treat on Sunday, October 27 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We need cars and candy, kids to attend, and folks to help with hot dogs and all the trimmings. This will be fun night for everyone. We will be in Romans throughout this month on Wednesday evenings and have begun preaching through Acts on Sunday morning. Continue to pray about “your one” the person God leads you to engage and share the Gospel with during this year. You can certainly begin this process by inviting and bringing them to church with you on Wednesday evening or Sunday morning. I continue to pray as a church we will be faithful to God’s call to make disciples as a priority in our life. Pastor Jim
